General Awareness about COVID-19
COVID-19 has emerged as one of the largest virologic invasions across the globe since the beginning of the year 2020. Many innocent lives have gone in this pandemic. It all started from China and then gradually spread across the entire world. Let us understand in detail about COVID-19
- COVID-19 stands for CoronaVirus Disease and as it was first reported in the end of year 2019 so the name has been given to it as COVID-19.
- This is an infectious disease which contains CoronaVirus. Mostly the people suffering from mild to moderate symptoms have the capability to recover without any special treatment. They just need to be cautious.
- The virus usually is transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes or exhales. These droplets remain effective for at least 8 hours, thus having the capability to spread the virus.
How to ensure safety?
The most common symptoms about this infection are :
So, if you feel any of these symptoms, then stay conscious and please follow the instructions described below:
Stay at home.
The best and beneficial way to help others and the frontline workers. Not only, it will help break the chain, but will also reduce the pressure and effort by doctors to provide treatment to those affected.
The face mask is better than an oxygen mask.
It can protect you and those around you. Face masks, integrated with frequent hand washing and social distancing, forms an essential preventive measure
Run errands for the elderly and neighbors.
Just like carpooling, isn’t it better if one person does the shopping for 2–3 families? Yes, next time you go out, make sure to ask your neighbors or any elderly in your society if they need any groceries, medicines, etc that you can get for them. Again, it will help in the prevention of Covid-19 spread, and also, lots of blessings.
Feeling generous? Donation can help.
A lot of people have lost jobs, that’s no secret. With the further spread of Covid-19, employment for some is becoming hard to achieve. However, if you have extra funds, you can always help others in a lot of ways, medical, food, housing, or even charities.
Counsel others. Support mental health.
In a time like this, it is understandable that we are stressed, worried, and even thinking round the clock about our future. That can really deteriorate our mental health. You can not imagine how you can change someone’s life just by talking to them, encouraging and motivating them, and spreading positivity. Helping others can also make you feel fulfilled.
Home Remedies
Most people who become sick with COVID-19 will only experience mild illness and can recover at home. Symptoms might last a few days, and people who have the virus might feel better in about a week. Treatment is aimed at relieving symptoms and includes rest, fluid intake and pain relievers.
However, older adults and people of any age with existing medical conditions should call their doctor as soon as symptoms start. These factors put people at greater risk of becoming seriously ill with COVID-19.
Follow the doctor’s recommendations about care and home isolation for yourself or your loved one. Talk to the doctor if you have any questions about treatments. Help the sick person get groceries and any medications and, if needed, take care of his or her pet.
It’s also important to consider how caring for a sick person might affect your health. If you are older or have an existing medical condition, such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, you may be at higher risk of serious illness with COVID-19. You might consider isolating yourself from the sick person and finding another person to provide care.
